Assistant Professor, University of Maine at Augusta, World History

Here's a short-term advertisment for an attractive tenure-track position in World History at the University of Maine at Augusta, the third-largest campus in the University of Maine's system, with some extra responsibilities at the University's external campus in Bangor, Maine. The call for applications explains further:

UMA is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure track, Assistant Professor of History with a specialization in World History. The teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The successful candidate will teach a 4/4 load, including a two-semester world history survey class. Preferred secondary fields include Women's History and Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching. This position will be based on UMA's Augusta campus with responsibilities on UMA's Bangor campus. The appointment will begin the academic year 2016-2017.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate in a history-related field preferred, doctoral candidates with a master's degree in a history-related field may be considered. Completion of the doctorate required for the awarding of tenure. Preferences: Experience teaching non-traditional learners and students at a distance. 

Salary:  The normal hiring range is high forties for a tenure-track position, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers an excellent fringe-benefits package. 

Faculty positions require teaching both day and/or evening on our campuses in Augusta, Bangor, and/or at University College Centers; student advising; curriculum development; research and scholarship; university and community service. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach via one or more of the distance education modalities utilized by the University: interactive television, video conferencing, and online instruction.

Applicants will need to create an applicant profile, complete an application (which includes contact information for three professional references), and upload a cover letter and a resume which fully describes your qualifications and experiences with specific reference to the required and preferred qualifications. Applicants will also need to complete the affirmative action survey, the self-identification of disability form, and the self-identification of veteran status form. Finalist will be asked to submit official transcripts upon request.
