The Toynbee Prize

About the Prize
The Toynbee Prize honors scholars whose work has made a significant contribution to the study of global history. Awarded biennially, the Prize recognizes social scientists and historians whose research has deepened our understanding of humanity, society, and the historical forces that connect people across regions, periods, and fields of study.
Rather than an open application or submission-based award, the Prize is given by the Toynbee Prize Foundation in recognition of a scholar’s body of work and its lasting importance to the field. Past recipients represent some of the most influential voices in global history, each helping to expand how the discipline is studied, taught, and understood.
