Post-Doctoral Research Assistant, Queen Mary (University of London)
For scholars interested in the intersection of law and history, here is a recent call for applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at Queen Mary (University of London) at precisely that juncture:
The Department of Law is seeking to appoint a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant from October 2016-July 2019. This post is funded through funding from NWO-HERA (Humanities in the European Research Area). Professor Eric Heinze will serve as Project Leader for the four-nation, ten-member research consortium Memory Laws in European and Comparative Perspective (MELA). The MELA team will examine ways in which law is used to promote preferred interpretations of history, thereby actively or subtly sidelining alternative views.
A PhD or equivalent in history, law, politics or some related area is required. However, as this project is inter-disciplinary, nor is there any ideal CV. All interested applicants with broadly relevant social-science or humanities backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
The post is full time. Starting salary will be £29,610 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, an interest-free season ticket loan, and a defined benefit pension scheme.
Applications are due on September 5, 2016, while interviews for the position are expected to take place shortly afterwards. For more on the documents required, please read the Further Particulars for the position. Likewise, for queries about the subject matter of the research project please contact Professor Eric Heinze.
